Edward Albee’s acidic classic puts the acrimony into matrimony. His tartly-named sparring spouses George and Martha Washington flay strips off each other over the course of an evening at home, after a party at the university they both work at. Their vicious sniping scuppers the suburban civility – but it serves to show the agony simmering underneath the surface. That’s what’s pulled in two-time Tony Award-winning Director Joe Mantello and the greatest of actors to this classy Broadway revival. Gunning for her third Tony in four years, the legendary Laurie Metcalf is surrounded by brilliant Brits: Rupert Everett, Russell Tovey and the Olivier Award-winning up-and-comer Patsy Ferran.
