Flying Lessons at Goodwood

West Sussex

Ongoing

Today the aerodrome is still home to some impressive restored wartime aircraft and continues to offer expert tuition and flying experiences. As well as formal flying qualification courses, amateur aviators can get a feel for life in the cockpit with a trial lesson.

During the 60-minute workshop you’ll have the chance to take control of an ultra-modern Cessna aircraft alongside a highly-qualified instructor who will guide you through the basics of flying the high-tech plane.

Those who want to experience something a little less state-of-the-art can opt to take their first lesson in a Piper Super Cub, which started life with the Dutch Air Force. Instead of the computerised avionics of the Cessna, here the controls are via a more rudimentary stick and rudder system, which means you’ll have a more ‘hands on’ flying experience. Admittedly, the manoeuvring might take a little longer to master, but nothing beats the thrill of taking to the skies in a classic aircraft – especially when in such historic surroundings.
