Four Legs at the Compton Arms

4 Compton Avenue, Islington,
London N1 2XD

Reminding London that its backstreets retain quiet treasures, Four Legs at the Compton Arms demonstrates the heights pub gastronomy can reach when talent in the kitchen is serviced with high grade ingredients. Referencing Animal Farm’s “four legs good, two legs bad” – the pub was once the beloved former local of George Orwell – the four legs of this new culinary endeavour belong to chefs Jamie Allan and Ed McIlroy. Allan cut his teeth at Paris’ seminal neo bistro Le Chateaubriand and Ed McIlroy at Bao Fitzrovia, so their collaboration of a daily changing menu of South Asian-inspired small plates and maybe the best burger in London is something we should all be very grateful for.
