Top Secret: From Ciphers to Cyber Security

Science Museum, London

Until 23 February 2020

We live in an era of encryption, so it’s smart of the Science Museum to trace the history of secret communication in its latest blockbuster exhibition. Timed to coincide with the Government Communication Headquarters’ centenary, Top Secret takes the lid off the ciphers and codes used to sneak vital information under the enemy’s nose. Starting in the trenches of World War I, it spans a century that incorporates the Bletchley Park codebreakers, Alan Turing’s Enigma-breaking machine, Cold War era espionage efforts and the cyber security techniques that keep us safe today.
