Shiota Chiharu: The Soul Trembles

Mori Art Museum, Tokyo

Until 27 October 2019

Berlin-based Shiota Chiharu is renowned internationally for her powerful installations, constructed from thousands of threads – primarily red and black – woven across vast spaces. It is as if the electric air, carrying all the fears, memories and dreams of visitors as they pass through the space, were made visible, immobilising the objects in their web. This is the largest solo show of Chiharu’s work to date, on her home turf, charting the 20 plus years of her career with six major installations and sculptural works alongside video footage and documentation of performances.
