Matthew Bourne: Romeo and Juliet

UK Tour

Until 12 October 2019

In the first new production from Matthew Bourne’s celebrated New Adventures company since 2016, this passionate and contemporary reimagining of Romeo and Juliet is set not in fair Verona but in a dystopian institute. It tells the story of two young lovers who are nebulously and inimically confined against their will and who risk everything, of course, to be together. Combining Bourne’s flawless choreography and lyrical storytelling, it is a beautiful and thought-provoking production, carried by a deeply engaging narrative. As part of New Adventures' commitment to support the next generation of dancing talent, the cast includes some of the UK’s best emerging dancers and breathes fresh life into Prokofiev’s music from beguiling beginning to tragic end. If anyone has the vision to bring something new to the most recognisable love story ever written, it’s Bourne.
