Learn to Draw Like Rembrandt

Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam

Saturdays and Sundays until the end of 2019

The hallowed halls of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam – dimly lit to showcase the glinting lustre of the Old Masters’ oil paintings – aren’t exactly child-friendly. Fortunately for families, it offers a more hands-on experience in the form of drop-in drawing lessons where kids can get to grips with the basic principles of sketching: vanishing points, shading and shape. Rembrandt is remembered for his exacting eye, but the exemplary sketches dotted around the Picnic Room show another side to the Dutch artist. He could be quick on the draw too. Can you?
