Johanna Faye and Saïdo Lehlouh are the duo behind Compagnie Black Sheep, a company which came out of the French b-boy/b-girl breakdancing scene to create a style of choreography that takes hip-hop into the realm of contemporary dance. In Wild Cat, five male dancers are barefoot in the shadows, channelling feline motions while showing off the athletic footwork at the core of hip-hop-style breaking. The aim: to turn a dance form associated with highly competitive ‘battles’ into something more expressive and intimate.
