beautiful strange

Yeah, yeah. I’m still on my Valentine’s Day kick for the week. And since I had the opportunity to pop into Kat’s Cafe last night for the all-Prince set, I simply had to share one of my favorite sexy songs by His Royal Badness.

If you listen to the lyrics however, you’ll see that the song is about a higher kind of love.  But if you still wanna perform a striptease to it, I don’t think anybody’d mind.

Enjoy…

Beautiful Strange – Prince

BEAUTIFUL STRANGE LYRICS

Strangely beautiful
Beautiful strange
That’s what we said
instead of the name
If U count the times
He took all the blame
U would find the reason
behind the game

In the darkness
we must look 4 the way
Words so strange
that only the mind can say
If it makes no mind
what color or holy day
why is this game
the only one that we play

Dive inside your soul if U wanna know
the light inside the darkness 4ever glows
The son is like the diamond inside the coal

In keeping with the spirit of Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d share something that came from one of my latest Twitter friends, msprovocateur. It’s a handy visual representation of things to say during sex that range from good (as in, ‘bestial wail) to bad (as in, ’seriously’). Click the pic to see the full-sized version

Also, be sure to check out the Agent Provocateur site, where you can find some of the highest quality, drool-worthy lingerie ever! Corsets, basques, and garters…oh my!

Valentine’s day is only a few days away – so it’s natural that as I’ve been listening to my mp3 player, I’ve been checking off songs to add to my own personal V-day playlist. Here’s an oldie but goodie that’ll have you reminiscing about your very…first…time.

Around 10 p.m. on a side street in Avondale Estates, a crowd gathers. Amber light flickers on the faces assembled in the night, and the faint aroma of smoke hangs in the air. In the center of the loose ring of people there is fire. It is leaping and diving, twirling and flipping back and forth. Seemingly wild, yet contained, controlled by the hands of several masters who are demonstrating their craft to the eager onlookers.

One of them skilfully handles poi – long lengths of chain with flames on the ends – whirling and windmiling them about, making him look like the most daring club kid ever. Another, a young woman clad in an all-black, Xena-inspired outfit, undulates slowly around the circle. Her hands are held high, clutching a pair of ironwork fans tipped with fire. At the end of her dance, she shakes her hands to extinguish the fan flames, and utters a single word of satisfaction, “Smoky!”

Indeed.

snagfilms – watch more than porn on your laptop

A couple of weeks ago, the bf and I were having a rather innocuous conversation:

Mike: You know, I know a lotta people that watch movies on their laptop.
Me: You mean like on a plane or something?
Mike: No, I mean they have a TV with a DVD player and everything, and they still opt to watch movies on their laptop.
Me: Oh. It’s probably porn they’re watching, then. Definitely makes sense to watch porn on your laptop. Though, I guess you would miss out on the surround sound….
Mike: Noooo, not porn. Just regular movies.
Me: Wait, so… these people sit in the house with a TV and a DVD player and watch movies on their laptop? That doesn’t make any sense. Can’t see why anybody would do that. You sure it’s not porn they’re watching? Maybe they just didn’t wanna tell you.
Mike: I’m sure.
Me: Oh. Well. Ok, then.

“…the universe is unfolding as it should”

It’s crazy the things that you remember from your childhood.

When I was a kid, I spent alot of time at my grandparents’ house. My grandmother – an incurable pack rat (due to a recessive gene I’m sure I inherited) – always had these interesting things around the house that
life_lessonI’d ‘meddle’ with, keeping myself entertained for hours. One of them that I remember quite clearly was a little metal trashcan that she kept near her bedside. By itself, the trashcan was nothing remarkable, but what had me so enchanted with this dinged up little waste receptacle was the poem that was written on the side of it. While my grandmother was otherwise occupied around the house, I’d often climb into her bed and lay there with my head hanging over the edge, reading the poem over and over again, pondering the words, falling in love with the simple rhythmic quality of them as I recited them in my head, and quietly mouthing the poem’s title – which to me, seemed like it might have been some ancient incantation – Desiderata.

Of course, them were the days before the Internet, so I didn’t have any way of finding out what the word ‘Desiderata’ meant, but even as a kid, the meaning of the poem was clear to me. This was a simple set of words to live by, a way to remind oneself of what was important in life, to make sure that you didn’t forget what was really real.
